Click here to work on MathXL You guys have been sending me some awesome ideas for Math Munch! I love that you are now investigating new and exciting math ideas on your own and I really want to encourage this. This week is a free-play week for Math Munch. Please go to mathmunch.org and pick SOMETHING NEW - an article, a math art tool, a game (DO NOT OCCUPY SCHOOL COMPUTERS PLAYING YOUR GAME), a video, a puzzle, etc. You will either submit something you created after you explored or submit 3-4 sentences describing what you found/learned. Have fun! MathXL and Math Munch

Click here to work on MathXL This week you will have one Math Munch option, but you will have a few ways to show that you worked on it: FRACTALS and SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK - Read this article and choose one thing in the article to write about or try to create your own popup fractal. If you choose to write, please write 3-4 sentences on what you discovered. If you choose to create your own popup fractal, I found this really great tutorial by another math teacher: Popup fractal. Click here to work on MathXL This week you will have two Math Munch options: 1. Valentine's Day Math Article - In the spirit of St. Valentine's Day, I selected this article to give you some ideas for creating the perfect math-inspired valentine. If you choose this option, you are to either create your own math-inspired valentine, or write 3-4 sentences about something in the article. 2. The Castle and the Princess Puzzle - I'm a sucker for great math puzzles, and this one was a lot of fun. Help the prince save the princess from the dragon. Remember, the answer is in the comments, so you can check it if you get stuck. If you choose this option either submit your solution and how you got it, or write 3-4 sentences about how you worked on the puzzle. MathXL and Math Munch

Click here to work on MathXL This week you will have two Math Munch options: 1. How to Cheat and Look Like You Can Solve the Rubik's Cube - I still have so many questions after watching this video! Please record three questions you still have about solving a Rubiks Cube 2. Tinkercad - I've held back this option because it does require you to create an account and that seems like it will stop a lot of us from exploring. However, it is a really cool design tool and creating an account is as simple as typing your email and your birthday. If you choose this option, I want you to create something and either print out a screenshot of what you designed for me, or write a description of what you created. |
